Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones gives updates on DeMarvion Overshown and Tyler Guyton
The Dallas Cowboys will take any sort of positive news they can get after losing their fifth straight game at AT&T Stadium on Sunday in dominating fashion. And they got some when it comes to one of their rising stars.
Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who had two sacks in Sunday's 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, left Sunday's game due to a knee injury in the second half but was able to return and finish the game. There was some concern about his availability going forward, but it sounds as if the Cowboys got a great report from their medical staff.
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said Monday on the K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan that Overshown has a "great shot" to play against the Houston Texans on Monday night.
"It looks like we got a great shot at having him back this week. He's having a great season in a season where it's been difficult. Certainly him getting Micah (Parsons) back out on the field only improves his opportunity to make big plays. Hopefully, we'll continue to get healthier as we progress here," Jones said.
One player who didn't play on Sunday was rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton, who is dealing with a neck and shoulder issue. Guyton was limited in practice all week and was expected to give it a go before being ruled out 90 minutes before kick-off.
Jones said Guyton made a lot of progress last week and the team's medical staff feels "really good about him playing this week."
Should Guyton be unable to go, 2023 fifth-round pick Asim Richards, who started in Guyton's place on Sunday, will get another opportunity to impress, as he did against the Eagles.
"I thought Asim Richards stepped up and did a nice job yesterday," Jones said.
