Haason Reddick was one of the big additions to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, signing a three-year, $45 million deal in March.
The hometown Eagle joined Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Friday, who asked if he had any advice for the many children in the area who look up to him.
"You have to stay the course," Reddick said. 'To get to the NFL, or whatever dreams they have, it's gonna be bumps in the road. It's gonna be some detours, it's gonna be some delays. You have to stay the course, because at times a person may feel like they want to give up or try something different. But, if you are serious about something, continue to give it your all. Continue to push through any delays, any setbacks, overcome those obstacles and continue to give it one hundred percent, everything you have. And you'll be surprised or amazed where you come out at the end of that tunnel, or the end of that road, or the end of that journey.
The 27-year-old linebacker was the 13th overall pick in 2017 after an impressive four-year career at Temple, which he started as a safety and running back. Now, the Camden, NJ native gets to play for his hometown team.
"That's all I've been doing my whole career," Reddick continued. "I've had major setbacks, times where I thought I would never play football again. And, I just talked to myself, talked to my family and decided, you know what, I'm gonna keep pushing. I'm gonna keep going, I'm not going to quit here. And now I'm in the best position of my life. I'm home, playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, something I never even thought about, never thought I would even have the opportunity to do. But yeah, it's a dream come true for me, that's all I would say."
