The Jorge Soler era has come to a close in San Francisco. As first reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN and confirmed by others, the Giants have dealt slugger Jorge Soler to the Atlanta Braves along with reliever Luke Jackson.

It's a deal which, according to Bob Nightengale, amount to a "salary dump" in which Atlanta will take on the $26 million remainder of Soler's deal split over the next two years.

The prospects, according to NBC Sports' Alex Pavlovic, are minor league in infielder Sabin Ceballos and left hander Tyler Matzek. Ceballos is the Braves' 17th-ranked prospect. Matzek is a middle-of-the-road reliever with a career 3.72 ERA and a 9.90 ERA with Atlanta this year.

Pavlovic also reports the Giants have been wanting to get Marco Luciano at the plate -- he's batting .375 over his last 15 games -- and by clearing Soler, they can do so without worrying about where Luciano fits on defense.

It's a move which may be a sign to come before the deadline, or just the fact that the Giants wanted out on the underwhelming Soler, who was batting .240 with 12 home runs this season.
