Saturday Night Live is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and Lorne Michaels has been at the head of the show for almost its entire duration.

Over the years, Michaels has obviously obtained quite the collection of artifacts and mementos from the show, and soon his personal archive will be transferred to the Lone Star State.

Michaels has donated his personal SNL archive to the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin, which will be made available for all to see in person!

The Ransom Center says the collection "provides insight into the creative and production processes behind 'Saturday Night Live,'" which has "made a lasting imprint on American culture" over its decades on the air.

Per WFAA, the Lorne Michaels Collection documents Michaels' career from his earliest writing for programs like The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show and Rowan & Martin's Laugh-in, all the way up through nearly 50 years of SNL.

UT President Jay Hartzell said in a statement, “Live from New York and now home in Austin has a great ring to it.  Lorne Michaels changed entertainment and shaped generations of American culture, and we could not be more grateful and excited that he has selected UT and the Harry Ransom Center as the home to much of his life’s work.”

The collection is expected to be fully available for research in January of next year, however the center is preparing an exhibition, which will open this fall, to offer the public a preview into the collection.
