Where is the new Bob’s Diner? Well, in typical Pittsburgh directions: You know where the old Bob’s diner was on top of the hill next to the Giant Eagle in Kennedy?
Yeah, go there and walk 8-feet to the left. You can’t miss it. Larry and I had the pleasure of opening up the new Bob’s Diner in Kennedy Township….literally!
First day of business! It is beautiful and big with plenty of elbow room. You gotta love that new restaurant smell! But, along with the Carnegie location, the best smells come from the large, new kitchen.
It is a new beginning for Bob’s, Kennedy Township, and nearby McKees Rocks - the ‘Paris of the West End.’ As Mayor David Flick stated: “it is the promise of America.”
I enjoyed the ‘Claire’s Veggie Benny’….it is Eggs Benedict with tomato instead of ham. EXCELLENT! A cup full of that dreamy hollandaise sauce served with a straw would have sufficed.
It was so good. The menu has something for everyone. And, I mean everyone: Liver & Onions is a specialty. My grandparents loved it back in the day but it is getting increasingly hard to find.
Owner Dane who is doing a tremendous job of keeping the memory and tradition alive & well at Bob’s Diner, told me that people come for miles for that old school classic. She and her staff are ready to serve you breakfast, lunch, and dinner…catering, too.
Bob’s Diner is truly a community destination. It seemed like everyone from Kennedy, McKees Rocks, and Stowe showed up.
Larry and I were even treated to some knowledge by Vicki & Sandy from the Historical Society. Thanks to Mayor David Flick, PA State Rep. Anita Astorino Kulik, and magician Lee Terbosic for stopping by and to Connor Brady for opening up the BRAND NEW Bob’S Diner in Kennedy for us - right next door to the old classic.
Enjoy the meals.
