PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) The Allegheny County Health Department announced the opening of a second COVID-19 Point of Dispensing (POD) in Castle Shannon set to open next week.
The POD will be appointment-only and will open on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Castle Shannon Fire Department Banquet Hall; 3600 Library Road.
Appointments will only be available for citizens aged 65 or older, and no on-site registration will be allowed.
Individuals will be able to begin online registration at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 13 on the Health Department’s website.
Phone registration will be available starting at 9:00 a.m. the day of the POD’s opening.
Operations at the Monroeville POD will not be affected.
It is anticipated that appointments will be filled quickly and anyone calling the 2-1-1 number should expect long wait times.
The POD will be staffed by members of Allegheny County Emergency Services who have been trained in storage, handling, and administration of the coronavirus vaccine.
