CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A 42-year-old man arrested and charged after two people were shot, one fatally, Thursday in suburban Waukegan was ordered to be held without bond Sunday, according to Waukegan police.
Juan Carlos Garibay was charged with murder and attempted murder, Waukegan police said.
About 6:15 p.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of Lorraine Place, for calls of someone shot, police said. Upon arrival officers found two men with serious gunshot wounds.
One man, about 40-years-old, was shot in his head, and taken to the hospital where he is in serious condition, police said. The second man, about 30-years-old, was shot in the back, and taken to the hospital where he died.
An investigation into the shooting found that the men were standing outside the home, when a masked gunman approached and fired shots, police said.
Officers believe the shooting stemmed from a fight earlier in the week, and the man thought to be about 40-years-old was the target.
He is due back in court Sept. 14.
