Williamsville, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Williamsville Central School District Board of Education made it official Thursday evening during its meeting and appointed Dr. Darren J. Brown-Hall, chief of staff of the Buffalo Public Schools, as Williamsville’s new superintendent.

“Dr. Brown-Hall’s experience and achievements in Buffalo Public Schools have prepared him to adeptly and effectively lead the Williamsville Central School District into the future," said board President Teresa Anne Leatherbarrow. "After careful consideration of all feedback, and several rounds of interviews, we the Board of Education have made the decision that . Together, we will cohesively lead the District sharing a collective vision of supporting all learners to reach their full potential.”

“I am honored to join the Williamsville community as the next Superintendent of Schools. I look forward to working with the District team and the board to find the most effective and dynamic ways to adapt to the new normal that our students, families, teachers and district leaders face,” Dr. Brown-Hall said.

When asked by WBEN if the Williamsville district is a 'broken district', Dr. Brown-Hall responded "no" and added, "Every district has their challenges." "Right now Williamsville is in a good place," he said in referencing elementary students in class 5 days a week and added that he'll look for opportunities to return more students full time while still allowing for remote learning for those students and families who choose to continue that practice.

Dr. Brown-Hall, 47, most recently served for the past six years as the Buffalo Public Schools’ second-ranking executive, as chief of staff to Dr. Kriner Cash. He also worked in Buffalo as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, associate superintendent and interim superintendent before becoming chief of staff. He began his career as a teacher in the Sweet Home Central School District.

The newly appointed superintendent will begin July 1.
