Yankees bring back Tim Hill on one-year deal: Report

The Yankees have reportedly put the finishing touches on their revamped bullpen by bringing back a familiar lefty.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, New York has agreed to a one-year deal with southpaw sidearmer Tim Hill, who turned into one of the team’s more reliable lefty arms out of the bullpen during its 2024 run to the World Series. Per Passan, the deal is for $2.84 million and includes a $3 million team option for 2026.

The Yanks signed Hill in June of last season after he was released by the White Sox, where he had pitched to a lousy 5.87 ERA in 27 appearances. But he turned things around with the Yankees, pitching to a 2.05 ERA across 44 innings of work, allowing 36 hits and just two home runs in that span.

Hill allowed only one earned run in the playoffs while pitching 8.1 innings, helping the Yanks capture their first pennant since 2009.

With the return of Hill, the Yankees now have a quality lefty arm to complement their new closer Devin Williams, and potentially a healthy Jonathan Loaisiga to offset the losses of Clay Holmes and Tommy Kahnle.
