Bills look to get to 5-1

Las Vegas, Nevada (WGR) - The Buffalo Bills will look to improve to 5-1 on the season when they face the Raiders in Las Vegas. In order to do that, here are my three keys to the game, plus notes and stats:

KEYS

  • Protect the football

The Bills have given the ball away a total of nine times, tied for sixth-most I'm the league. The Raiders have taken the ball away from opponents ten times, tied for second-most in the NFL. It was a big reason why they won their first three games of the season. The Bills absolutely have to take care of the football against a Las Vegas team that will be looking to take it away from them, and especially James Cook, who will need to be extra cautious holding on to the ball.

  • Don't let Maxx Crosby wreck the game
Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby is one of the best in the game. He's fifth in the NFL with 13 quarterback hits, to go along with his two sacks. Crosby is the one player on the Raiders defense who can change a game with a play or two. The Bills need to account for where he is on every passing play, and make sure he doesn't wreck the plan.
  • Button it up in the secondary

The Bills secondary continues to bleed yards and points. Their defense ranks 31st in the NFL in yards per game allowed through the air and 22nd in yards per play against the pass. The Raiders are 8th in the NFL in total passing yards per game and 11th in passing yards per play. Clearly Las Vegas will look to exploit the Bills pass defense, and especially with tight end Brock Bowers. Buffalo's secondary needs to be better than it has been and make sure Las Vegas is held in check though the air.
