Brian J. Gallagher has been named Lackawanna County District Attorney, succeeding Mark Powell who was recently appointed to the Lackawanna Court of Common Pleas. Gallagher, a former federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as a 14-year veteran of the DA’s office and its former First Assistant District Attorney, will complete Powell’s unexpired term and will seek a full four-year term in the upcoming election. Gallagher also played a key investigative role in several high-profile murder trials, including the successful prosecutions of Neil Pal and Jason Dominick for the 2013 shooting death of 24-year-old Dunmore resident Frankie Bonacci.
