FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) -- A motorcyclist is dead after a crash along 8 Mile Road in Farmington Hills, early Monday morning.

The victim was found by a passerby who saw a Harley Davidson motorcycle lying in the street along 8 Mile at Metroview Rd., east of Halstead near the Livonia border, at around 5:30 a.m. The woman called 911, police and EMS responded, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Farmington Hills Police believe the man had been dead for quite awhile before his body was discovered.

The preliminary investigation found that the motorcyclist may have hit a curb at the entrance into Founder's Park and then flipped multiple times. He was not wearing a helmet, investigators said.

At this time, police said they do not know if alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the crash.

The man's name was not immediately released as police work to notify his family.

Later in the morning, westbound 8 Mile remained closed from around Gill Road just before Halstead for the on-scene investigation. The roadway reopened at around 10 a.m.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Farmington Hills PD at 248-871-2610.
