FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) — “This will not be the end.”

That’s the message from the owners of Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum, a beloved Metro Detroit destination for those who love vintage games, collector’s items and more.

After months of fighting, on Monday night the Farmington Hills City Council unanimously approved a redevelopment plan for the Hunter’s Square shopping center, which houses the historic and popular attraction at Orchard Lake and 14 Mile Roads. The redevelopment plan is set to feature a new Meijer and several restaurants.

But the morning after the plan was approved, the owner of Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum vowed to come back.

“This will not be the end of MMMM!” a Facebook post said. “Yes, the city voted and the mall will be torn down but from what I understand we have our space till the end of the year.”

“We will be moving, not closing!” the post said. “Where? I do not know as of yet but I hope to stay within the same general area.”

Owner Marvin Yagoda says he “will keep everyone posted as things progress.”

Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum features more than 5,000 square feet of vintage coin-operated machines, macabre, oddities, unusual nostalgia, and the newest video game crazes, according to Marvin’s website.

“Admission is ALWAYS FREE. The experience is fun and unforgettable for ALL ages,” the website says. “Model airplanes, ceiling fans, movie posters, collector’s items and neon signs along with other amazing antique memorabilia cover the tall walls and ceiling.”
