DETROIT (WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating a freeway shooting on I-94 on Detroit’s east side.

In a statement on X, Michigan State Police Second District said Detroit Police notified the Detroit Regional Communication Center of a shot spotter activation on westbound I-94 near Moross on Friday, November 22nd, around 9:40 p.m.

Troopers arrived to find a vehicle with “multiple” bullet holes on Moross. Two people were inside the vehicle.

A brief investigation indicated the vehicle was on the exit to Moross from westbound I-94—when an unknown suspect shot at them while driving on the freeway, State Police said.

State Police shut down the freeway for an investigation and recovered multiple shell casings. The investigation remains ongoing.

No injuries were reported.

“Troopers are working to gather more information on the suspects involved and what occurred before the shooting,” First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said.

State Police ask anyone who witnessed the shooting to call them at 855-MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
