A strong cold front is bringing Arctic air into Louisiana for your Tuesday.
"An arctic front will move in around morning commute with rain likely in many areas," WWL-TV Chief Meteorologist Carl Arredondo said. "It will turn windy and cold the rest of the day."
A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for northern Tangipahoa parish and Washington parishes from 3:00am to 9:00am.
"Accumulations of up to an inch of snow or ice may cause travel issues," Arredondo explained for areas under the advisory.
He says there is a short window that the rain may be mixed or change to snow/ice far north and accumulate.
"From 4:00am until 9:00am north of the lake, watch out traveling along the state line. South of the lake, it should all be rain with no accumulations of any sleet, if any, at all. All precip should end around 10:00am."
Arredondo says temps will stay in the 40s all day, feeling like 30s.
It gets even colder to start the day on Wednesday:
HARD FREEZE north of the lake Wednesday morning, PIPES will need to be protected along with plants, pets, and people.
LIGHT FREEZE south of the lake, including New Orleans area. Protect plants, pets, people. Pipes will be ok.
