A former LSU women's basketball player is dead after being struck by a car in Memphis, Tennessee, early Thursday morning.
WREG-TV reports that Danielle Ballard died at a hospital where she was being treated for her injuries. She was 29-years-old.
According to Memphis police, Ballard, a Memphis native, was walking near an intersection when a car hit her. According to investigators, the driver who hit Ballard stayed in the scene and cooperated with officers. The crash remains under investigation.
Ballard played three seasons at LSU. She helped lead the Tigers to the Sweet 16 of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. In 2015, she earned first-team All Southeastern Conference and honorable mention All-America honors and helped lead the Tigers back to the NCAA Tournament.
