Police have arrested 17-year-old Curtis Tassin... again.

Officers caught Tassin in Algiers Thursday night after he got away from state custody during a trip to juvenile court in New Orleans Wednesday.

The Office of Juvenile Justice says Tassin was recaptured on Elizardi Boulevard on the Westbank.

NOPD said Tassin was "extremely dangerous."

He had been in custody on charges including assault, battery, armed robbery, carjacking and escape.

In 2022, Tassin escaped the troubled Bridge City Center for Youth before allegedly committing another carjacking.

Authorities say this week's escape was the teen's third time fleeing authorities.

He now faces additional charges.

The Office of Juvenile Justice released the following:

On Thursday, June 1, 2023, at approximately 7:45 pm, New Orleans Police Department & Louisiana State Police apprehended a 17 year-old youth involved in a single escape during a transport to New Orleans Juvenile Justice Intervention Center. The court is located on 1100 Milton Street, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The youth was apprehended in the 1700 block of Elizardi Blvd., in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The youth is charged with simple escape and theft for taking state property from the Office of Juvenile Justice during the initial escape on May 31, 2023.
